I think this place will be like Angel of the North and divide people for years to come.....but then they'll get used to it. It's like a slap in the face when you first see it but panels around it give history of area and the inside is beautiful- European larch we were told. 3 entry to top and an exhibition on 1st floor. Shame it wasn't a bright sunny day but friendly knowledgeable staff made us very welcome
What an absolute eyesore. It is about as attractive as the back end of a pig. People saying its a great addition to the place must be on LSD. I live 5 miles away and have seen it every week from construction and will never warm to it. A true blot on the landscape.
Great place to visit and see the Town. You can buy your tickets here for other attractions in Bishop Auckland and have a look to the top of the tower.
A great addition to the town centre which provides outstanding views of Bishop Auckland and the surrounding area.The lift is a very good size, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the range of artefacts and displays and the ceiling makes for an interesting and informative time.If this is important, the venue has wide and accessible doors, the disabled toilet is very big and clean. Because of the height and exposed nature of the viewing areas it is probably worth bringing a warm or windproof coat even on clear and sunny days!
Looks out of place at first sight but has grown on me, the longer I have been here, after reading the history on the side walls and seeing it in its full glory this tower is amazing, highly recommend taking a visit and reading some of the amazing history from this beautiful part of the world.
