A decent shop with good stock and facilities and helpful staff, I've waited over an hour on several occasions for service though which is very annoying if you just want to buy something small.
Merlin in Bishop Auckland has a good selection of gear but it often does not have what I want. If you want something in particular make sure you call them first - even for things you might expect them to have loads of. I find the staff attentive but unapproachable for a discussion when Im unsure what I want. Overall I find the store disappointing while being glad its there. It also should open Monday sometimes as it makes it generally inaccessible to people who only get Sunday/Monday off work.
